Newly single Pamela Silva talks baby’s challenging birth in Miami amid pandemic

Giving birth in the middle of a pandemic is not ideal, but Pamela Silva also had an added scare: Her son Ford was premature.

The “Primer Impacto” personality told People en Español that Ford came three weeks early.

Silva recounted that on April 21, she began to feel contractions, and then shortly afterward, her water broke. The 38 year old ended up having an emergency C section because the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck and his blood pressure was dropping. Ford spent 10 days in the neonatal intensive care unit at an unnamed Miami hospital.

The Peruvian native proudly showed off her healthy infant a few weeks later on Instagram, shocking fans and followers who hadn’t even realized she was pregnant — or a single mom.

Yes, likely the most shocking takeaway from this blessed event was that back in January, Silva filed for divorce from her husband, TV mogul Cesar Conde. And, according to Miami-Dade County court records, the president of NBC Universal News Group is not the father.

The divorce was granted March 21 and the paternity is still unclear. Silva refused to comment, only to say the baby was planned and she is very happy.

“The nights alone and the lack of sleep are difficult, but I still enjoy it all very much,” said the reporter. “I haven’t complained even a single day because even though I may have dark circles under my eyes or feel tired, I haven’t been happier in my entire life.”

Though she has a rough go of things due to the coronavirus shutdown, Silva says there is a silver lining.

“Being pregnant during the pandemic has been a totally different experience, a difficult one, but I also think it has strengthened my bond with my son because in most situations he and I were alone, just the two of us.”
