The 17-year-old arrested Saturday near Kings Island on a weapons charge was carrying a 9mm pistol and 12 bullets, according to a police report.

Operations were temporarily suspended in the Action Zone Saturday night after Mason police received a report of a "suspicious person" outside of the park.

The teen from the Cincinnati neighborhood of Westwood was arrested, according to the report. Police said they recovered the gun, a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic, the ammunition, an iPhone 8 and a Nike fanny pack.

The charges listed on the report were receiving stolen property, having weapons under disability and obstructing official business. The report does not offer any details about these charges.

The Enquirer is not naming the teen due to his age.

The Enquirer asked Mason police for any other incident reports generated in connection with the amusement park this weekend. No other reports were provided. Mason police officials said no other reports were available "at this time," so it's unclear if any other incidents took place.

This was the 2023 opening weekend for Kings Island. The park made many improvements to its security after a spike in violent incidents in 2021.

Park officials have not responded to requests for comment at the time of this report.
