Juvenile arrested, police seek additional suspects in Holland Township car theft

HOLLAND TWP. — A juvenile has been taken into custody following a car theft in Holland Township early Friday morning.

Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office were dispatched shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, on reports of a suspicious vehicle circling the neighborhoods with its lights off near Sentry Road and Woodfield Drive.

The reporting party said a subject exited the rear of a light-colored Jeep Cherokee and began checking doors on vehicles parked in several driveways.

Deputies located the Jeep and a blue minivan leaving the area. They attempted to stop the vehicles, but both fled. Deputies pursued, eventually terminating the chase in the area of Byron Road and 148th Avenue. They later located the minivan stuck in the snow on Byron Road, where they took a 16-year-old juvenile into custody.

The minivan, they learned, was stolen from the neighborhoods near the initial suspicious vehicle call. The light-colored Jeep was not located and remains outstanding.
