K Matt Prater named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Another Arizona Cardinals player has earned conference player of the week honors. The league announced Wednesday that kicker Matt Prater was named -NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals’ 37-14 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Prater made all seven of his kicks on Sunday, hitting three field goals and four extra points. His 13 points in the game were the most he has scored this season.

With his scoring on Sunday, he became the 24th player in NFL history to reach 1,500 career points. He now has 1,510. He is one of only three active players to have scored that many points.

He leads the NFC in scoring with 56 points and is third in the entire NFL, trailing only Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass and Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.

He is the fourth Cardinals player to earn player of the week honors in six games. Chandler Jones earned defensive honors in Week 1, Kyler Murray earned offensive honors for Week 2 and Byron Murphy had defensive honors for Week 3.
