How do K-State and KU programs stack up nationally?

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Kansas State University (K-State) and the University of Kansas (KU) were recognized in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Online Programs Rankings.

The report evaluated more than 1,800 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and how effectively they serve veterans.

“These rankings confirm that Kansas State University is on its way to implementing its Next-Gen strategic plan to innovate and deliver programs to lifelong learners that are in alignment with what they want and need for future success,” said Debbie Mercer, interim provost and executive vice president at K-State. “We will continue to expand and enhance our online program offerings to offer high-quality educational options to students across the globe.”

According to a report from K-State, its ranking rose in almost all categories in 2024. Some highlights were bachelor’s programs moving up from 39th to 32nd, up three rankings to 20th for veteran bachelor’s programs and bachelor’s programs in business rising from 24th to 23rd.

KU took the top slot in the country for its online master’s program in special education and was in the top ten for best online MBA programs and MBA programs for veterans.

“Kansas State University’s online bachelor’s degree programs are ranked best in the state of Kansas, and this exceptional online education experience is available to students across the state, nation and worldwide,” said Karen Pedersen, dean of K-State Global Campus.

“Rankings are one way to determine how we are performing relative to our peer institutions, and these recent U.S News rankings highlight successes in our online programs,” KU Director for News and Media Relations Erinn Barcomb-Peterson said. “While we celebrate these successes, we also remain focused on our broader mission and goals.”
