Cooper Beebe keeps finding ways to shine for the Kansas State football team.

Even though it can be difficult for casual fans to notice when an offensive linemen is playing better or worse than his peers, Beebe is leaving no doubt about his excellence with the Wildcats.

The senior left guard this week became the first offensive lineman in school history to earn consensus All-America status.

He also joined a short list of former K-State football players who have achieved that honor, regardless of position. The others are David Allen, Chris Canty, Martin Gramatica, Tyler Lockett, Jaime Mendez, Jordy Nelson, Terence Newman, Mark Simoneau, Gary Spani, Sean Snyder and Deuce Vaughn.

Beebe could have skipped his final season with the Wildcats and turned pro at the end of last season, but he came back in part because of his desire to become the first offensive lineman in school history to make the team’s Ring of Honor.

It now seems like that is in his future.

Beebe is a 6-foot-4 and 335-pound offensive lineman from Kansas City. He played at Piper before he enrolled at K-State and became a staple on its front five.

He has started 47 games for the Wildcats and been named the top offensive lineman in the Big 12 for two years running.

Beebe was so good this past season that TV announcers occasionally pointed out his blocks as they happened and celebrated them more than the yards and touchdowns they helped produce for other players.

It comes as no surprise that he has piled up awards and honors since the regular season came to an end.
