Kahuna's employee stabbed at bar, Elmira man charged with attempted murder

An Elmira man has been charged with second-degree attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a Kahuna’s bar employee several times in the head and neck early Sunday.

Avontae T. Wilson, 27, was arrested and taken into custody shortly after 1 a.m., several blocks away from the Luce Street bar by New York State Police who were canvassing the area. The Elmira City Police developed information to identify Wilson.

Wilson was charged with second-degree attempted murder, arraigned in Elmira City Court and is currently in the Chemung County jail on $250,000 cash bail.

The injured Kahuna’s bar employee was taken from the scene to an area hospital by the Erway’s ambulance for medical treatment.
