Kaia Gerber Has Created a Shoe Collection With Jimmy Choo
Kaia Gerber's star status just keeps on rising. At only 18, she’s one of our favorite supermodels, our go-to tattoo inspiration, and soon, also our favorite shoe designer.
On January 22, Jimmy Choo announced that it had teamed up with Kaia to release a new collaboration designed by the supermodel — and it is bound to be a hit. The exclusive capsule collection, which will become available for purchase starting on February 2, features four different shoe styles: lace-up combat boots, western boots, slingback heels, and a pair of simple slides.
Inspired by her favorite Cruz boot, Kaia told Vogue that she wanted the capsule collection to have strong ’90s vibes while still including options to wear all day and then into the night. “There are so many factors when it comes to designing a shoe,” Kaia told Vogue. “I think that’s why, subconsciously, our shoes are so special to us. Not only because of the amount that goes into making them, but also because they’re holding us up all day.”
"Kaia is a modern supermodel, she represents the archetypal Jimmy Choo muse for a new era,” Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo’s creative director, said in a press release announcing the collection. “Off the catwalk Kaia has a signature personal style that is the epitome of effortless cool. From her first campaign with us, Kaia has worn our CRUZ combat, it became her go-to, and that led us to have a conversation about collaborating on her capsule shoe wardrobe.”
Additionally, Kaia explained to Vogue that 15% of all sales from the collection are going to be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. "If I were at St. Jude’s, I would hope that there was someone advocating for me in the position that I’m in,” she explained. “I try and do that for those kids and give them hope and inspiration."
