Stop the press because Fendi just brought the About A Boy signature bowl haircut back for their AW19 Couture show.

Set against the epic backdrop of the ruins of the Palatine Hill in Rome, the fashion house's couture offering celebrated true Italian style with a retro 70s twist.

Think creamy white double-breasted tailoring, camel wrap coats with faux fur collars and a psychedelic vintage prints with a millennial-friendly marble twist.

Topping off the throwback theme (literally) was an army of models' working 54 individually dyed bowl cut wigs. The groovy 'mushroom' shape hair came courtesy of backstage legend and hair genius, Sam McKnight.

No stranger to creating an army of unique wigs in record time, McKnight shaped and dyed long white wigs, applying bespoke shades inspired by roman marble before trimming into rounded bowl cuts.

Each hand-dyed wig had its own specific shade designed to match the colour of each individual model's outfit. The result? A matchy-matchy muted pastel palette of 'Dirty peach', 'Grey lavender', 'Raven black' and 'Rich dark ginger', with Kaia Gerber leading the way in marshmallow pink.

A set of oversized Studio 54 style gold hoops and the dreamiest marble print dress to grace the runway and Gerber's romantic hazy take on couture was complete.

Our take away? Forget matching your shoes to your handbag, we're all about colour co-ordinating our next dye job with our outfit. Just make sure it's in sepia filtered nostalgic hues.

Or, as McKnight puts it, 'Matching your hair colour to your outfit is the new black.'
