Kala Pharma: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

WATERTOWN, Mass. (AP) _ Kala Pharmaceuticals Inc. (KALA) on Thursday reported a loss of $31.1 million in its fourth quarter.

The Watertown, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 55 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 46 cents per share.

The biopharmaceutical company posted revenue of $2.2 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.4 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $104.3 million, or $1.99 per share. Revenue was reported as $6.4 million.

Kala Pharma shares have risen 32% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 41% in the last 12 months.
