The Flight Attendant, starring Kaley Cuoco, will not be returning for a third season.

Based on Chris Bohjalian's novel of the same name, the Max show followed a flight attendant who found herself embroiled in an espionage plot.

The first season — which debuted back in 2020 — saw Cassie Bowden (Cuoco) wake up to find a dead body next to her, after a night of heavy drinking. Instead of calling the police, she decided to clean up the scene herself.

"What started out as an attention-grabbing book cover quickly evolved into an extraordinary flight of a lifetime. I always envisioned TFA as a limited series and thanks to an incredible creative team, we were able to deliver two thrilling seasons," said Cuoco in a statement (via Deadline).

"Personally, playing Cassie has been a dream come true and I am so grateful for everyone who played a part in bringing this extremely original series to life."

Following the success of season one, a second series followed in 2022 — with Bowden inadvertently witnessing a murder while moonlighting as a CIA asset.

The Big Bang Theory star earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her role, while the show was also recognised in the 'Outstanding Comedy Series' category at the Emmys.

Showrunner Steve Yockey said of the show's end: "The Flight Attendant was a true passion project and the reception from viewers and critics alike was pretty stunning. Our unorthodox spectacle of a show really found people.

"As we all move on to new projects, those two seasons of television and the incredible team of professionals behind them will always stay at the top of my list."

Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez and JJ Soria starred as series regulars. The show also featured appearances from Grey's Anatomy's T.R. Knight, Taskmaster's Mae Martin, Yasha Jackson, Sharon Stone and Shohreh Aghdashloo, among other notable guests.

The Flight Attendant streams on Max.
