Kamala Harris googled her husband, Doug Emhoff, before their first date and he's just learning about it now.

In an Instagram post on January 16, the vice president–elect said she was “blessed” to have Emhoff by her side ahead of this week's historic inauguration. “We were set up on a blind date in 2013, and it was practically love at first sight,” she shared. “It felt like we had known each other forever. We were married a year later in a ceremony officiated by my sister Maya.”

A few hours later, Harris promised to reveal even more details about their love story in her first joint TV interview with the country's first-ever second gentleman. “I even broke some news to him about our very first date,” she wrote on Instagram.

During the Sunday Morning interview, which aired on CBS News on January 17, Harris revealed that she looked up the entertainment lawyer prior to their first date. “Ooh. This is a reveal,” Emhoff responded.

Kamala Harris went on to explain that it was her best friend that set them up. “She said, ‘Just trust me. Just trust me.’ You know, she wanted me to just kind of go into it,” the VP-elect shared through laughter. “She said, ‘Don’t google him.’ I did!”

As for Emhoff, the lawyer said that he worked up the nerve to text Harris—who was the attorney general of California at the time—while having some beers with a buddy at a Lakers game. Despite being the “biggest Warriors fan,” Harris responded, “Go Lakers!”

The next morning he gave her a call. “I left this ridiculous voicemail, which she has saved and plays back to me on our anniversary every year,” Emhoff said, adding that he thought he'd never hear from Harris again. They married just a year later in 2014.

“It was just, it was adorable,” Harris said, regarding the voicemail message. “And it was just, I mean, the thing about Doug is that he is exactly who he is. He's just fully authentic and clear about the things he cares about—and it's family, it's his work….”

“You,” Emhoff added. You can watch the entire interview, below.
