NEW ORLEANS — Kansas men's basketball isn't far off from tipping off Saturday in the Final Four against Villanova, and when the Jayhawks do, their three assistant coaches will be watching with new contracts freshly signed.

Kurtis Townsend, Norm Roberts and Jeremy Case are now all on one-year rolling term deals that are effective as of Jan. 1, 2022, and add an additional year annually July 1 unless the agreement is terminated. Townsend's base salary is $500,000, Roberts' $520,000 is and Case's is $250,000. They each have incentives based on Kansas' performance, such as $25,000 for making the Final Four.

Roberts is on his second stint on Self's staff, a stint that started with the 2012-13 season. Roberts was also with the Jayhawks as an assistant in 2003-04, before he would go to be the head coach at St. John's. He was also an assistant for Self in Self's past stops as a head coach at Oral Roberts, Tulsa and Illinois.

Case became an assistant coach at Kansas ahead of the 2021-22 season, after holding different roles on the staff since 2016. He's also been an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State and Houston Baptist. Case played basketball in college for the Jayhawks, and was a part of the squad that won the national championship in 2008.

Maybe Case, along with Townsend and Roberts, will be a part of the next national title winning team at Kansas. In the next handful of days, with games against Villanova and potentially either North Carolina or Duke, that will be determined. Regardless of how those go, though, as of now their futures are a bit more certain.
