Merry Christmas, happy holidays and welcome to another Kansas City Chiefs game day at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Las Vegas Raiders were today’s opponent. One game after dropping 63 points on the Chargers, they rolled into Arrowhead and totaled, well, 6 points from their offense ...
And still won.
Final score: Raiders 20, Chiefs 14.
It was an offensive meltdown from Kansas City, as the Chiefs gave up a pick-six and botched a handoff, resulting in another Raiders score.
The Chiefs failed to wrap up the AFC West with the loss, though they can do so with a win or tie in any of their remaining games.
But it was anything but a straightforward effort from the 9-6 Chiefs, which got an “A” effort from the defense but took a step back offensively after some apparent progress at New England.
The oddsmakers heavily favored KC, but instead it was another loss to a sub-.500 team. The Chiefs have three such blemishes (Broncos, Packers) on their resume, with the regular season ending in just a few weeks.
It was ugly, and the body language on the sideline very much mirrored the effort on the field.
