Kansas City man posed for photo at dealership before buying SUV with stolen ID: cops

A Kansas City man used a stolen identity to buy an SUV. Then he posed for a photo with his new wheels.

In July 2020, the suspect, who has not been publicly identified, stood in front of his brand new $58,000 Ford Explorer before driving off the Missouri lot, according to the Kansas City Police Department, which posted the photo online Tuesday in an effort to identify him.

Within minutes, they had a name.

“Thank you so much, we have already identified the suspect!” police tweeted. “Turns out he is in custody already on the Kansas side on different charges.”

It’s unclear what charges the suspect will face for the theft, or what he was already in custody for.
