Following a nearly four-hour long standoff, Kansas City police arrested a shooting suspect near East 44th Street and Norton Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Police responded to the area about 9:30 a.m. Saturday where they found a woman who had been shot. Police got her out of the house and she was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Kansas City police spokesman Capt. Dave Jackson said.

Jackson said that the suspect refused to come outside peacefully. The two children who were inside the home have been rescued. The suspect fired several shots, Jackson said, and Missouri State Highway Patrol was notified.

The suspect was arrested shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Negotiators were also on the scene.
