Kansas City things to do: Handel’s ‘Messiah,’ Keith Sweat, return of Fairy Princess

Nearly 200 instruments and voices will combine as the Kansas City Symphony and Chorus present Handel’s “Messiah,” one of the highlights of the holiday season, this weekend at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

Patrick Dupré Quigley, founder and artistic director of indie-classical ensemble Seraphic Fire, will serve as the symphony’s guest conductor in collaboration with Charles Bruffy, the longtime director of the Grammy Award-winning chorus.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 10-11 and 2 p.m. Dec. 12. Tickets ($30-$90) and more information are available at kcsymphony.org.
