Kansas announced Friday it has finalized a home-and-home football series with the University of Hawaii for 2028 and 2032.

The Jayhawks will play the Rainbow Warriors at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu on August 26, 2028. The return game will be on September 18, 2032, at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

These two schools have played each other just once — on August 31, 1985. Kansas won 33-27.

Former KU football coach Charlie Weis scheduled a home-and-home with Hawaii for 2016 and 2017, but the games never came to fruition. Weis was fired in 2014.

Previously, KU has been scheduled to face Washington State on Sept. 9, 2028, in nonconference play. Louisiana Tech has also announced Kansas football as a future opponent for that year.

Missouri joins the Rainbow Warriors as nonconference opponents for the Jayhawks in 2032.

This season, the Jayhawks (6-6) finished tied for seventh in the Big 12 Conference with Oklahoma (3-6 Big 12 record) and await their bowl pairing. West Virginia also tied for seventh but went 5-7 this season.

The Rainbow Warriors went 3-10 overall this season.
