Kansas and K-State will reportedly play marquee Big East basketball teams next season
The schedule makers are giving college basketball fans an unusual treat in the Big 12-Big East Battle next season.
Kansas is set to host Connecticut in a nonconference game inside Allen Fieldhouse as part of the annual cross-conference challenge, which takes place in late November or early December.
The Big 12 and Big East have set all 10 matchups for the series, according to college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein.
A game between the Jayhawks and the Huskies will be one of the most anticipated nonconference clashes of the entire season given that it will be a matchup of the last two teams to win a national championship.
KU won the NCAA Tournament last season and then UConn dismantled the field of 68 this year.
Talk about a headliner.
But that is far from the only attractive game on the Big 12-Big East slate. Another exciting matchup will be Texas at Marquette. Not only will it be a contest between two teams that are coming off stellar seasons but it will pit Golden Eagles coach Shaka Smart against his former team.
K-State will also host a fun game against Villanova at Bramlage Coliseum next season. Those two teams have only met once previously, with Villanova defeating K-State 51-34 in 1940.
Other games include Houston at Xavier, Creighton at Oklahoma State and Iowa State at Depaul.
