Kansas man draws prison time for dealing meth

Nov. 28—COLUMBUS, Kan. — A Cherokee County judge sentenced a rural Baxter Springs, Kansas, man to more than nine years in prison this week on a conviction for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Timothy L. Sargent, 60, who pleaded guilty to the offense, was sentenced to 111 months of incarceration.

Sargent was arrested in May 2022 when a deputy stopped a vehicle he was driving and found him in possession of about 1.5 ounces of meth and a large amount of cash, according to a news release from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department.
