Kansas State's first Big 12 Conference men's basketball game under new coach Jerome Tang will double as a New Year's Eve celebration.

The Big 12 announced its conference schedule on Friday, and K-State is scheduled to entertain West Virginia on Dec. 31 at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan. Tipoff time is yet to be determined.

While the opener against West Virginia and former K-State coach Bob Huggins is one of four Saturday conference games at Bramlage, the Wildcats were shut out of the league's featured Big Monday lineup on ESPN.

K-State will play host to Florida on Saturday, Jan. 28, as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.

Both installments of the Sunflower Showdown with Kansas fall on Tuesdays, with the Jayhawks visiting Bramlage at 6 p.m. on Jan. 17, and K-State traveling to Lawrence for the rematch at 7 p.m. Jan. 31.

In all, the Wildcats will play nine Saturday conference games, eight on Tuesdays and one on Wednesday.

In addition to the four Saturday games, the Wildcats will play at home four times on Tuesday nights, with senior night against Oklahoma set for Wednesday, March. 1.

In addition to West Virginia, K-State's Saturday opponents at Bramlage are Texas Tech on Jan. 21, Texas on Feb. 4 and Iowa State on Feb. 18. Beside KU, the Tuesday visitors are Oklahoma State on Jan. 10, TCU on Feb. 7 and Baylor on Feb. 21.

K-State also announced tip times for its nonconference games. Most notably, the Wildcats will play Wichita State at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Bramlage, and Nebraska at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

K-State is coming off a 14-17 season last year under former coach Bruce Weber, including a 6-12 conference record. The Wildcats officially open the Tang era at 8 p.m. on Nov. 7 against Texas-Rio Grande Valley, though they also have a Nov. 1 exhibition game against Washburn.
