Just hours after picking up its first out-of-state football commitment for the 2023 recruiting cycle Tuesday, Kansas State added a second when safety Collin Dunn from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, announced that he too will be a Wildcat.

Earlier in the day, Kennedale, Texas, defensive back Kameron Sallis made his pledge to coach Chris Klieman and his staff.

Dunn and Sallis were the Wildcats'' second and third commitments from a group of weekend visitors, joining Blue Valley High School wide receiver Andre Davis, who announced his intentions Sunday.

There could be more good news on the way when Derby running back Dylan Edwards makes his decision public at noon Thursday at his high school. Edwards also was one of last weekend's Manhattan visitors, though he holds numerous other offers and previously too official recruiting trips to Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Dunn, a 6-foot-1, 195-pounder from Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, had been on K-State's radar for some time. He attended a game in Manhattan last fall and also made an unofficial visit in the spring.

Dunn had 12 scholarship offers from which to choose, including West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Maryland, and also had received some interest from hometown Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. He canceled an upcoming trip to Pitt when he committed to K-State.

While he played outside linebacker and safety for Hillcrest, Dunn most likely will be a safety at K-State, though nickel or strong-side linebacker are possibilities as well. He helped Hillcrest to an 11-3 record and the semifinals of Alabama's Class 6A playoffs last year as a junior.

While Edwards will announce his decision Thursday, K-State fans also are keeping a close eye on Maize High School four-star quarterback and No. 1 in-state target Avery Johnson. Johnson took his final recruiting trip last weekend to Oregon after checking out the Wildcats and Washington earlier this month.

Offensive lineman Calvin Clements, another Kansas top-10 prospect, visited K-State last weekend and has a trip scheduled to Baylor this week before making his decision.
