Jul. 21—Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn earned another preseason honor Wednesday when he was named to the watch list for the Doak Walker award.

Vaughn, a sophomore, was also named to the Maxwell Award watch list earlier this week. He's the first Wildcat to be named Doak Walker watch list since Alex Barnes in 2018.

Vaughn joined 2021 first-round picks Najee Harris and Travis Etienne as the only running backs to total 600 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards last season. He led all true freshmen with 1,076 scrimmage yards and was named 247Sports' True Freshmen of the Year for his efforts.

Vaughn also collected Freshman All-American honors from multiple outlets last year. He was named a preseason All-American and preseason All-Big 12 this offseason.

The Wildcats open their season against Stanford on Sept. 4 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
