The most memorable play from Kansas State’s exhilarating run to the Elite Eight earlier this month was a lob dunk from Markquis Nowell to Keyontae Johnson.

It happened with time winding down in a back-and-forth game against Michigan State at Madison Square Garden. It propelled the Wildcats to an overtime victory in the Sweet 16. And it left fans all across the country jumping out of their seats as Nowell calmly floated a pass near the rim and Johnson athletically caught it in mid air for a reverse slam.

There’s a good chance it will be included in the One Shining Moment highlight video that CBS airs at the end of every NCAA Tournament. It only happened last week, and it is already considered an iconic K-State basketball play.

It is also now featured in a commercial for TurboTax.

Well, kind of.

Johnson and Nowell teamed up to recreate the lob dunk for a short video ad that was shared on social media this week.

The ad begins with Nowell telling viewers that “I wouldn’t have been able to break the assists record in a tournament game if it wasn’t for the help of my teammates, and Keyontae.”

Then Johnson appears on camera to say: “And I couldn’t have done it without you.”

Next, they shared a few words about how TurboTax can assist customers the same way Kansas State’s biggest two basketball stars assisted each other on the court this past season.

The fun began after that. Johnson and Nowell recreated their lob dunk from the Sweet 16 on what appears to be a high school court somewhere in the Manhattan area. They gave the play so much detail that it began with Nowell pretending to wave off a play call from K-State coach Jerome Tang before he sent a pass to Johnson at the basket.

After Johnson slammed the ball home, he turned to the camera and reminded everyone it was a commercial for TurboTax.

Both Johnson and Nowell have made extra cash on endorsements since the Wildcats were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament.

Nowell also appeared in a social media ad for Wingstop earlier this week. Sadly, he did not recreate any of his famous K-State plays for that commercial.
