Kansas State Wildcats football team is ranked in college season’s first AP Top 25 poll

K-State is ranked No. 16 in the season’s first AP Top 25 college football poll.

Kansas State (10-4, 7-2 Big 12) ended last season ranked No. 14. The highest ranking K-State achieved last season was No. 11.

The Big 12 is also represented in the poll, which was released Monday, by Texas at No. 11, TCU at No. 17. and Oklahoma at No. 20. Texas Tech is first in the “others receiving votes” category with 101 votes; Baylor garnered three.

Kansas (6-7, 3-6) is unranked in the new poll after rising as high as No. 19 last season.

Defending national champion Georgia is ranked No. 1 in the AP poll, followed in the Top 10 by Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, USC, Penn State, Florida State, Clemson and Washington.

K-State plays host to Southeast Missouri State on Sept. 2 to open the 2023 season. Kansas opens against Missouri State on Sept. 1.
