The Kansas State football team made a strong enough impression on its latest high school pledge that he committed to the Wildcats less than a week after visiting campus in the middle of a blizzard.

Zashon Rich, a three-star cornerback from Minnesota, has announced that he will play for K-State coach Chris Klieman next season.

Rich shared his decision on social media on Friday after making an official visit to campus last weekend for K-State’s snowy loss to Iowa State. Rich was previously committed to Wyoming, but he switched allegiances to the Wildcats.

A 6-foot-2 and 180-pound defender, Rich has the size that K-State coaches typically look for in defensive backs.

The Wildcats don’t recruit the state of Minnesota heavily, but defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman does like to look there on occasion for players who fit his scheme.

Chiddi Obiazor also signed with K-State out of Minnesota last year.

Rich is the 11th member of K-State’s 2024 recruiting class. But he is the first cornerback of the group.

He joins Kaedin Masey, Gus Hawkins, John Price, Jake Stonebraker, Jacques Spradley-Demps, Blake Barnett, Ryan Howard, Kyle Rakers, Callen Barta and Boone Morris.

That group currently ranks No. 68 nationally and No. 15 in the Big 12, according to the latest On3 recruiting rankings.
