Kansas woman dies after semi truck crashes into car on K-96, authorities say

A Hutchinson woman died after a collision between a sedan and a semi-truck that happened in Reno County on Saturday.

The crash was reported at 5:52 p.m. along Kansas Highway 96 at Worthington Road about three miles west of Mt. Hope, Kansas, Highway Patrol crash logs show.

Staci Eikleberry, 47, of Hutchinson, was in a 2015 Nissan Altima at a stop sign to K-96 on Worthington Road, the report said.

A semi-truck was heading east on K-96 approaching Worthington Road when Eikleberry pulled out to turn onto K-96 and was struck on the driver’s side by the semi, according to the crash log.

Eikleberry died at the scene of the crash from her injuries, the KHP said.

The driver of the semi, 71-year-old Vernon Bontrager of Hutchinson, was not injured in the crash, the report said.
