Kanye West dedicated his Sunday Service to Louis Vuitton artistic designer Virgil Abloh, who died Sunday at 41 after a secret battle with cancer.

Abloh was named the creative director of Donda, West’s creative content company named after his mother, and designed several of West’s album covers.

“In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, the creative director of Donda,” the rapper said in a message on social media and his website.

West’s choir also performed a rendition of Adele’s “Easy on Me” from her new album, “30.”

Abloh died Sunday, two years after being diagnosed with cardiac angiosarcoma, a tumor in the heart, which he never publicly revealed.

“Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered,” read a statement from his social media accounts. “Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design. He often said, ‘Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself,’ believing deeply in the power of art to inspire future generations.”

The designer’s friendship with West dates back more than a decade to when the pair interned together for Fendi in 2009.

When Abloh unveiled his first runway show for Louis Vuitton in Paris in June 2018, West and wife Kim Kardashian were there to cheer him on.
