Kanye West’s Instagram account restricted, tweet removed after posts slammed as anti-Semitic

Kanye West’s online outbursts are catching up to him.

The controversial rapper’s Instagram account was restricted and a tweet was deleted after posts that were slammed as anti-Semitic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Meta, the parent company of Instagram, confirmed to THR that content from West’s page was taken down and that a restriction was put on his account.

It’s unclear what the restriction entails, but it could include West being temporarily banned from posting or sending direct messages. His account still appears active.

Meta didn’t say which post or posts led to the restriction, but West was accused by the American Jewish Committee of “Anti-Jewish posts.” The committee referenced a screen shot of a text conversation with fellow rapper Diddy in which West allegedly wrote, “Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.”

Twitter, meanwhile, removed a post Saturday in which West said he would go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also,” the since-deleted tweet read. “You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

West, 45, has also caused controversy recently for wearing a “white lives matter” shirt during Paris Fashion Week and for claiming on Fox News that Jared Kushner worked on the Abraham Accords peace treaties “to make money.” Kushner is Jewish.

Instagram previously suspended West’s account for a day in March over a tweet about comedian Trevor Noah that included a slur.

West is a 24-time Grammy winner known for songs such as “Jesus Walks,” “All of the Lights” and “Gold Digger.”
