Here is the Reason Why Kanye West Compares Marriage to 'Dog Years'

West's Recent Religious Conversion

Kanye West has been going through a very public spiritual rebirth in 2019, making and promoting his album Jesus Is King and leading his now infamous Sunday Services. West has been doing things like banning premarital sex from his team while working on Jesus Is King and publicly criticizing his wife, Kim Kardashian, for dressing too sexy.

He said this on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians about her Met Gala look:

"I went through this transition where being a rapper, looking at all these girls and looking at my wife, like, ‘Oh my girl needs to be just like the other girls showing their body off.’ I didn’t realize that that was affecting my soul and my spirit as someone who is married and the father of now … about to be four kids. A corset is a form of underwear, it’s hot, for who though?

You are my wife and it affects me when pictures are too sexy."

A Team Up That Makes Sense

West recently announced that he would be appearing at influential pastor and author Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston, TX. He explained that he would be giving a 20 minute interview during Osteen's 11:00 service on November 17th, as well as bringing his choir along to serenade the audience of nearly 16,000 (with online viewers in the millions).

Osteen and West have quite a bit in common theologically, so this team up makes more sense than it seems at first look. Both men promote a "prosperity gospel," preaching that one's financial situation is commensurate with the strength of their faith.

Speaking To Osteen's Church

While appearing at Osteen's church on Sunday, West explained that he was a recent convert to Christianity and that he was now "in service to God," not to money or to fame.

"I know that God has been calling me for a long time and the devil has been distracting me for a long time."

West explained that he suffered from a "mental breakdown" in 2016, and while that was his self described lowest point, he claimed that God "was there with me, sending me visions, inspiring me."

Using It For God

West talked about a number of different topics, and he explained that "all of that arrogance" that people had seen in him throughout his career, he is "now using it for God." According to West, "The only superstar is Jesus."

Not only was he speaking during the 11:00 church service, but he is also leading one of his Sunday Services in the evening. The free tickets sold out minutes after going on sale, but some were posted to resale sites for hundreds of dollars.
