Karissa Fretwell case: New details surface on Oregon mother, 3-year-old son missing for over a week

A neighbor of a young mother who went missing with her 3-year-old son last week recalled a troubling incident that allegedly took place at the family's apartment.

Robert Allen, a neighbor of 25-year-old Karissa Fretwell and her son Billy, told KOIN he noticed unusual activity at the pair's Salem residence two months before they vanished but is not sure it was related to their disappearance.

"We heard a man and woman arguing incredibly loud," Allen told the station. "The man was swearing a lot and there was a kid crying in the background, and the woman was yelling at him to get out of her apartment."

Megan Harper, a friend of Fretwell's, said she was supposed to watch Billy on May 17, but never heard from the family.

Harper told the Salem Statesman-Journal that the last time the two spoke was on May 11, when Fretwell asked her about installing a "Ring" security camera system at her home.

"I feel ill with worry about William," Harper told the outlet.

The Fretwells, who were first reported missing on May 17, have not been in contact with relatives since May 13, according to the Salem Police Department.

Karissa is a white female who stands at about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 135 pounds, according to police. She has blue eyes and naturally blond hair that is dyed red. Her Facebook page says she lives in McMinnville, Ore., but she originally hails from North Dakota.

The young mother is studying education at Western Oregon University while working as an overnight security guard.

Billy is a white male who is about 3 feet tall and weighs approximately 30 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes.
