Karl Lagerfeld is remembered fondly at his final Fendi show

The Fendi show on Thursday went on without Karl Lagerfeld, who died two days prior to the event. However, the celebrated fashion icon was a huge part of the show.

Lagerfeld, who died in Paris at about the age of 85, was creative director for the fashion house for decades. The Fendi fall/winter fashion show became his swan song, with his khaki colors, starched collars and double-breasted jackets worn by models including Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Kaia Gerber, all of whom have mourned the loss of Lagerfeld on social media this week.

Lagerfeld's touch was also seen above the models, where the words "Love, Karl," scribbled in the designer's handwriting, were at the start of the runway. A video was shown of Lagerfeld drawing a portrait of himself in 1965, when he first started working at Fendi.

Guests were given cards that had a heart in the Fendi logo on the front, and the date of Lagerfeld's death embossed on the back

In the show notes, Silvia Venturini Fendi, the granddaughter of the brand's founders, paid tribute to Lagerfeld:

“The bond between Karl Lagerfeld and FENDI is fashion’s longest love story, one that will continue to touch our lives for years to come. I am profoundly saddened by his passing and deeply touched by his constant care and perseverance until the very end. When we called just a few days before the show, his only thoughts were on the richness and beauty of the Collection. It’s a true testament to his character. He shall be so missed.”
