The Cambridges' visit to Pakistan is officially underway. This afternoon, Kate touched down at Nur Khan Airbase for her first appearance on her five-day tour of the country with Prince William, a visit which is being called their' "most complex" overseas trip to date.

The Duchess arrived wearing a bespoke pale blue dress by Catherine Walker, which she paired with matching trousers. Statement earrings and nude heels completed the look.

Even as the tour begins, details about the royals' itinerary are slim, but in a statement made earlier this month, Will and Kate's communications secretary said that their schedule will not only “pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan,” but will also “largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today–a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation.”

The spokesperson also noted: “This is the most complex tour undertaken by The Duke and Duchess to date, given the logistical and security considerations.”

Will and Kate's trip marks the first official visit by a member of the British royal family to Pakistan since Charles and Camilla's tour in 2006. Previously, Queen Elizabeth visited in 1961 and 1997, and Princess Diana traveled there by herself in 1991.

"The two countries enjoy historical links which both sides wish to strengthen further," Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, the High Commissioner for Pakistan to the United Kingdom, said following the announcement of Will and Kate's visit earlier this summer.

"The Government and the people of Pakistan warmly welcome the announcement of the Royal Visit by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Pakistan."
