Kate Middleton Brings Her Royal Style Signatures to Zoom

Yesterday, Kate Middleton and Prince William took a moment to acknowledge the many teachers across the U.K. who are keeping schools open for the children of key workers and vulnerable children. To amplify that message, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge video chatted via Zoom with staff and students at the Casterton Primary Academy in Burnley, one such school remaining open for those in need. During the call, students shared their Easter-themed arts and crafts projects. Afterwards, the couple then chatted with some of the teachers providing care for the students.

“We just want to say a huge thank you to you guys for keeping it all going,” said Prince William to the teachers over video. “Please pass on many messages of support to all of the staff and volunteers; they are doing a great job.” Middleton also added, “For all of the parents who are key workers, to know that normality is there for their children, and that they’ve got the structure and a safe place to be… it’s fantastic.”

Admittedly, the video conference call is a highly unusual medium for official royal appearances of this kind, even still Middleton brought forward her signature regal polish. The Duchess chose a high-impact top, a bright orange crewneck sweater by Zara, for the occasion, an easy way to make a stylish impression on the app. She accessorized it with a sleek pair of gold dangly earrings, giving her at-home ensemble an even dressier finish. Prince William, meanwhile, went for a business-causal look in a classic blue button-up shirt.

The couple’s joint appearance hit an appropriately pulled-together note, underscoring the message of gratitude to educational workers at this time. With the U.K. and many parts of the world under lockdown for the foreseeable future, there will likely be more royal Zoom appearances in this celebratory and stylish spirit to come.
