Kate Middleton had to do an emergency toilet stop with Princess Charlotte in a random London pub

Being a member of the royal family might make you special, but it doesn't exclude you from having normal bodily functions.

And Princess Charlotte proved exactly that this week when she required an emergency toilet stop in a pub, no less, in south London.

The Mail Online reports pub-goers at The Phoenix in London's Stockwell nearly spat out their drinks when they were joined in their local drinking establishment by none other than Kate Middleton and her three-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte.

A plain-clothed female protection officer reportedly went into the pub first to check the toilets, and asked staff if it was okay for a little girl to use the loo. Moments later, the Duchess of Cambridge strolled in, hand-in-hand with Charlotte, and headed down to the toilet.

One local who was in the pub at the time told the Mail Online: "I was sitting in my usual chair and when I looked up I saw Kate Middleton, I mean the Duchess of Cambridge and her daughter Princess Charlotte.

"The little kiddie just trotted in with her mum, went to the toilet and then trotted out. They could not have been in the pub for more than ten minutes."

The regular added that the royal mother and daughter seemed "very nice" and "totally normal".

It's not confirmed exactly where Kate and Charlotte had been prior to the young princess getting 'caught short', but Charlotte was reported to have been wearing black shoes, white tights, a blue skirt and a white blouse along with a light-blue coat. Kate, meanwhile, was apparently dressed "casually", in patterned blue culottes and a navy long-sleeved top.

Another reminder they're basically just a normal family (apart from the palaces and the tiaras and the security staff, obvs).
