Kate Middleton Just Proved the Leopard Midi Skirt Trend Is Still Alive and Well
Spotted: Kate Middleton just wore one of last year’s trendiest pieces in 2020, proving the style is here to stay. While attending a baby sensory class at the innovative Ely and Careau Children’s Centre, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a camel-colored Massimo Dutti coat over a black turtleneck and (drumroll, please) a leopard midi skirt.
There’s no denying the printed skirt was one of last summer’s hottest fashion buys (there’s even an Instagram account dedicated to documenting all of its sightings), and for good reason. While its bold pattern might make you think otherwise, the skirt is very versatile because it can be worn for practically any occasion. Pair it with a tee, denim jacket, and white sneakers for a casual day-to-day look or dress it up with a blouse or turtleneck and boots like Kate.
The duchess’s stunning satin pleated skirt is from affordable fashion brand Zara and was marked down to $12 — but it’s already sold out. We have a feeling the stylish print isn’t going anywhere this year (if Kate’s recent appearance is any indication), and seeing royalty in spots only affirms our need for more of the trendy print in our own closets. Her skirt’s gorgeous deep brown color is hard to “repli-Kate,” but we found a very similar option for $44 available on Amazon and Shopbop (however, there are limited sizes at both retailers).
