While Queen Elizabeth II may have retired to Windsor Castle to wait out the coronavirus storm, the younger royals are stepping up to the plate.

In a surprise visit on Friday morning, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stopped by a London National Health Service (NHS) building to show their support for frontline healthcare workers.

“Catherine and I were proud to visit staff working at NHS 111, to pass on our personal thanks, along with those of my grandmother and father, to staff working around the clock to provide care and advice to those that need it most,” Prince William wrote in a deeply personal Instagram post.

“Not only are NHS staff and emergency workers responding to the needs of the public, they – like the rest of us – are concerned about their families, friends and loved ones,” he continued. “They need our support as much as we need theirs.”

During their visit, the Duke and Duchess were photographed speaking with staff at the centre, while strictly abiding by guidelines from the World Health Organization to avoid the spread of COVID-19 - that meant no shaking hands, and maintaining a distance of at least a metre between contacts.

Dressed in a sharply tailored rose-coloured suit and a pair of BOSS pumps that she has owned since 2016, Kate Middleton shone during the visit.

Usually spotted wearing feminine dresses while on official duty, royal watchers were impressed by Kate’s unexpected fashion choice for the day.

Not only is it a more polished look than we’ve seen her in before, Kate’s springtime ready suit is also a relatively affordable choice (at least for a royal!) from one of the 38-year-old royal’s favourite high street brands.

Retailing for a grand total of $384 CAD at Marks & Spencer, Kate paired the $239 CAD Autograph Wool Blend Double Breasted Blazer with the matching $145 CAD Slim Leg Cropped Trousers.
