The National Portrait Gallery's photo book Hold Still came out today, and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, dressed boldly for the occasion. Hold Still features introductory text by Kate and includes portraits capturing life in the UK during the country's lockdown imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Kate wore a long scarlet Eponine London coat and paired it with tan pieces, including a pleated skirt, tan high heels, and a matching mini purse. The Duchess wore a blue mask and her hair down while visiting the National Portrait Gallery to celebrate the book's launch. Earlier in the day, the Duchess's team shared footage on her social media of her hiding a book on the grounds of Kensington Palace for the public to find.

“Let the search begin!” Kate's team wrote. “We’ve joined @the_bookfairies for the day to share copies of Hold Still around the UK with you. Each copy is adorned with a gold book fairy sticker, gold ribbon, and has a letter from The Duchess tucked inside.” (Emma Watson also worked with Book Fairies to hide books around the world during International Women's Day in 2017.)

Kate's appearance today comes one day after she and Prince William marked Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son Archie's second birthday on their Instagram. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a brief tribute to Archie and posted a photo from his christening.

“Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today. 🎈🎂” the couple simply captioned the shot.
