From Town & Country

The Duchess of Cambridge is no stranger to Instagram; her royal duties are throughly documented on the Kensington Palace account for years. But she had yet to post on the social media platform herself until earlier today.

This evening, Kate shared a series of photos from her and Prince William's second visit to the SOS Children's village, an organization in Lahore which provides a home and support for more than 150 young people. The pictures were accompanied by a personal message from the duchess herself.

The caption of Kate's post reads:

The community at the SOS Village is built around family - and the best possible family you could imagine - where everyone comes together to nurture, love and protect the children in their care.

These vulnerable children, many who have come through traumatic circumstances, are nurtured in this caring environment and are able to form these quality relationships that they so desperately need to thrive.

She signed the post simply: "Catherine."

According to People's Simon Perry, Will and Kate were only able to return to the charity for a second visit because an electrical storm had prevented them from landing safely in Islamabad. Because of the weather, they had to spend an additional unplanned night in Lahore.

Per Perry, "Kate, 37, asked aides if they could factor in another visit to the place that had such an effect on her. Sources said it also enabled the couple to delve deeper into the stories of the children, and the graduates, of the remarkable set-up."

It has been something of a week of firsts for the Duchess of Cambridge. On Friday, Kate gave her first TV interview as a member of the royal family.

In a conversation with CNN royal correspondent Max Foster, the duchess opened up about the SOS Children's Village. "I think William and I really wanted to come and see" the Village, she said. "You know, there’s so many vulnerable women here, but they’ve really used their positivity and the support that the village here provides them really to support and protect the next generation, the children in their care, and give them the best possible start to their future lives."

She also reflected on the royal tour of Pakistan as a whole, saying:

"It’s been fantastic, we’ve seen a lot of Pakistan, a huge variety. It was amazing seeing some of the geography, but then to see some of the community activities like this has been really special."
