From Town & Country

The Duchess of Cambridge's 2020 is off to a busy start. After spending the end of 2019 up at Sandringham, as is the family tradition, Kate is back to attending official engagements—all while Harry and Meghan transition out of their roles as working royals.

On Monday, Kate and her husband, Prince William, hosted the Buckingham Palace reception in honor of the UK-Africa Investment Summit. And just last week, the royal couple visited Bradford, kicking off what is to be a year filled with events. More recently, the Duchess of Cambridge launched a new survey called "5 Big Questions" about childhood development, and is embarking on a tour of the U.K. to promote it.

Yesterday, she visited with children at the Birmingham Science Museum in support of the new initiative, and today, she's in Cardiff attending a class at the Ely and Careau Children’s Centre, to observe the kind of services parents can receive there.

For this morning's appearance, Kate picked a cozy brown coat (quite similar to the one Meghan wore to Canada House earlier this month), which she paired with a slim black turtleneck, pleated skirt, black boots, and a simple gold necklace.

This survey and tour marks Kate's first solo initiative of 2020, but she has been focused on early childhood development for years.

“Parents, carers and families are at the heart of caring for children in the formative years, so that is why I want to listen to them. As a parent I know how much we cherish the future health and happiness of our children," Kate said of the survey, which is live now, here.

“I want to hear the key issues affecting our families and communities so I can focus my work on where it is needed most.My ambition is to provide a lasting change for generations to come.”

Given that Prince Harry and Meghan have relocated to Canada at least part-time, and will no-longer be representing the Queen in an senior official capacity, we can expect to see more of Kate soon.
