It is one of the most iconic engagement rings in the world - but you can now get your hands on an almost identical version of Kate Middleton’s stunning piece of jewellery for a much more reasonable price.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 37, was given the sapphire piece, believed to be worth £300,000, by Prince William, 37, when he proposed in Kenya in October 2010.

Kate, then aged 28, debuted the ring - which previously belonged to Princess Diana - at their engagement announcement the following month.

The mum-of-three still regularly wears the piece, which features 14 solitaire diamonds and a setting consisting of 18-carat white gold.

Now, Marks and Spencer has unveiled a £19.50 ring which looks remarkably similar.

The realistic ‘dupe’ has a blue circular gem surrounded by faux diamonds and platinum plating.

Shoppers can purchase it in three sizes - small, medium and large.

The ‘Platinum Plated Baguette Regal Ring’ is available to order on the British chain’s website.

And a fourth added: “I'm really pleased with my purchase. The ring is beautiful and looks very authentic.

“I wore it to work the other day with a navy dress and got lots of compliments. Well done M&S! More like this please.”

Following his proposal to Kate, the Duke of Cambridge revealed he chose the ring as a way of “making sure my mother didn't miss out on today and the excitement".

His mother’s jewellery has been passed down to Meghan Markle too, with Prince Harry’s wife the owner of his late mother’s £75,000 aquamarine ring.
