Katharine McPhee was forced to leave her Asian tour with husband David Foster due to a family emergency, which has since been reported to be the death of their son’s nanny.

The “American Idol” alum, 39, took to Instagram with a statement addressing concertgoers in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she was meant to continue performing as part of the David Foster & Friends Asia Tour 2023.

“It’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run,” said the Broadway star, who married the Grammy winner, 73, in 2019. “David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family. Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all.”

While the “Smash” alum did not elaborate on the circumstances, TMZ later confirmed the tragedy was the death of her son’s nanny, who she and Foster “considered family.”

Fellow celebrities, including Foster’s ex-wife and former actress Linda Thompson, took to McPhee’s comments section to offer well wishes.

“Sending you and David love, & hoping that everything is OK🙏🏻💜,” wrote Thompson.

“Sending my love and prayers for your family,” said Nicole Scherzinger.

Just last week, McPhee narrowly avoided an armed robbery at Craig’s, a celeb-favorite restaurant in West Hollywood. A pair of thieves reported to be armed with semi-automatics robbed two adults at the L.A. hotspot shortly after midnight before fleeing in a getaway car driven by another, Lt. Foster of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department , who is not related to David Foster, told KTLA 5. No injuries were reported.

“Omg missed this by probably a few hours,” McPhee commented on Street People of Beverly Hills’ post about the incident.

At the time of publication, Foster is still scheduled to perform Friday and Saturday at Sentul International Convention Centre in the Indonesian capital. He has not yet taken to his Instagram account to remark on the incident.
