The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Kathy Hilton didn’t know who Lizzo was and called her a name that raised eyebrows.

On Wednesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen featuring Kathy Hilton included a game of seeing if Hilton knew the stars pictured. One of those pictures included an image of Lizzo. Instead of getting the answer right, Hilton said she thought the picture was of Sidibe.

When she was asked if she thought she knew the person pictured, she said, "I feel like I do. Precious?"

According to Decider, Crystal Kung Minkoff, who stars on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with Hilton, tried to play it off by saying, “She is precious, though, Lizzo is precious,” leading Hilton to add, “That’s what I call her. Her nickname is ‘Precious’ to me.” But fans were not feeling the fact that Lizzo was mistaken for another Black celebrity, seemingly Precious star Gabourey Sidibe.

Media personality Kalen Allen wrote on Twitter, "That Kathy Hilton clip is messed u.

Others agreed, with one person writing, "There's nothing funny about Kathy Hilton calling Lizzo 'Precious.' Absolutely nothing." Another wrote, "Kathy Hilton mistaking Lizzo for Precious ain't funny to me Idc."

Another viewer brought up how fatphobia becomes an easy go-to place for jokes, even from people who consider themselves supportive of marginalized communities.

“[People] are laughing & saying they’re gagged by this like it’s not blatantly racist & fatphobic….why are black women always the butt of jokes to y’all? Especially to ppl who consider themselves “allies” in + out of the community,” they wrote.

Another added that even if Hilton is out of touch, it doesn't excuse her comment.

“[A]s much Kathy Hilton can be completely ditzy and blonde, this was completely disrespectful and has some racial undertones,” they wrote.

However, one fan said that Hilton was not referring to Sidibe and may have gotten Lizzo confused with model Precious Lee.

Hilton has yet to comment on the controversy.
