Katie Price has admitted she let herself down on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, because she was not fit enough.

The former glamour model and mother-of-five is among the celebrity line-up for the new series of the Channel 4 reality show and is reported to quit just two days into filming. She has now confessed she was not fit enough physically or mentally to face the challenge.

Price, 41, said in a promotional interview for the show: “I was going through a bad time mentally before I did this show. You will all find out what was going on.

She added: “My only big thing is that someone else had been offered the place instead of me because I feel like I let myself down.

The celebrity version of SAS: Who Dares Wins sees contestants face gruelling challenges and interrogation by chief instructor Ant Middleton to see if they have what it takes to be a Special Air Service army officer.

Price - who last year split from fiancé Kris Boyson and was declared bankrupt - blamed undergoing breast reduction surgery prior to taking part in the show for her downfall.

She said: “I think a lot of people would know that mentally I am strong, just by my past and what I have been through...

“But it it was just physically my body wasn’t ready for a lot of the things I was put forward to, because that’s just due to my stupidity of going smaller surgically.

“But apart from that I am a strong person anyway. When you get an interrogator going at you, even thought you know it is fake, although it is a show, it is not supposed to feel like a show. It feels like reality.”
