No one enjoys camp more than Katy Perry. The pop star has made a career out of embracing the concept and it’s evident in the irreverent fashions she wears as a host of American Idol. At last night’s reveal of show finalists, Perry chose an outfit that played to her strengths. Dressed in the closing look of Pucci’s Fall 2019 collection, she made a playful statement. The sequin covered fringed gown in shades of blue, pink, and silver was exactly the kind of wild style that she and her stylist Jamie Mizrahi love.

To push the look to its kitschy limit, Perry’s beauty team went monochromatic. Her hairstylist Chris Appleton added on a bright pink wig with long waves, while makeup artist Michael Antony painted on bubblegum lipstick and matching eyeshadow. Combined with the sparkling dress, purple latex gloves, and mobile earrings from Lady Grey, it could have been too much, but in Perry's hands it all made perfect sense. And given that the pop star will be front and center at the camp-themed Met Gala in a matter of weeks, the ensemble could be a good indication of things to come.
