So, Katy Perry Will Be A Judge On That 'American Idol' Reboot

She played coy about the newson Tuesday’s episodeof “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” but nowKaty Perryis confirmed as a judge on the reboot of “American Idol.”

Eyewitness News’ George Pennacchioshared the news on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. ABC, the network hosting the “Idol” reboot,announced Perry as hostduring its upfront presentation in New York. The “Bon Appetit” singer is the first big name attached to the new series.

When DeGeneres asked Perry about the news on her show, the pop star responded cryptically: “Judge not lest ye be judged. But they didn’t say anything about constructive criticism, and I’m good at that.” All you KatyCats, start prepping those auditions.

News of the “Idol” rebootsurfaced earlier this month. This new iteration of the reality singing show — which only just ended in 2016 after a 15-year run on Fox — isset to air in 2018, per the show’s Instagram account.

The same account enthusiastically welcomed Perry into the fold.

Though Kelly Clarkson, who won the first season of “American Idol,” was rumored to be a judge for the new “Idol,” the singerrecently signed onto be a coach in Season 14 of competitor “The Voice.” Fellow “Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson was also announced as a coach for Season 13 of the NBC show.

Perry, who recently gave the world the odd visual of hergetting breaded and boiled for serving in her “Bon Appetit” music video, is releasing her latest album on June 9. Work that press cycle, girl.
