In the past week, with fires spreading across parts of California, the need to provide for those in need and harness the power of community grows more and more important each day. This past weekend, Baby2Baby’s annual gala celebration raised awareness about the work the organization is already doing on-site in Malibu to help families affected by these tragic events. Beyond the organization’s ability to respond quickly to disasters, Baby2Baby works year-round to provide basic needs to babies, children, and families so they are able to get back on their feet in the face of poverty. This year’s gala, which celebrated its seventh year, honored Amy Adams with the Giving Tree Award for her dedication to the organization and the families it serves.
To toast Adams and raise money for the organization, the likes of Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, Katy Perry, Kobe Bryant, and many more came to show their support, joining copresidents Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein for an evening which raised more than $4 million. Adams, upon receiving her honor that the evening, reminded the crowd of the importance of Baby2Baby’s continued support of the community, “I’d like to take a moment to send my thoughts to those affected by the fire. It’s such a reminder of the importance of an organization like Baby2Baby, who has already provided essentials to evacuation shelters for children in need.”
After the evening’s honors and speeches, in typical Baby2Baby fashion, the ’90s R&B surprise performer Ma$e took the stage, concluding the celebration of the organization’s work in Los Angeles and around the country.
