A lot of Oregon Duck fans were probably a bit hesitant when they found out that Kayvon Thibodeaux would be playing on Saturday night against the Arizona Wildcats.

After sitting out the last three weeks with an ankle injury suffered in the first game of the season, there was a feeling that the Ducks might be better giving Thibodeaux one more week to rest, rather than using him in a game against the Wildcats where his contributions weren’t exactly needed to win.

Those same fans were probably feeling pretty vindicated when Thibodeaux exited the game in the second quarter on Saturday, where he was left sitting on the sideline with a wrap around his ankle. Thibodeaux didn’t come back in the second half and instead watched as his teammates pulled out a victory against Arizona.

Fortunately, it sounds like the Ducks’ defensive star is going to be alright, though, and his sitting for the second half was planned on Saturday, rather than a re-aggravation of the ankle injury.

Cristobal actually went further, saying that he expects Thibodeaux to be healthy going forward.

“We really feel good about how he’s gonna be for this upcoming week,” Cristobal said.

For an Oregon defense that has been struggling to get much pressure on the QB over the past couple of weeks, that’s huge news. As long as Thibodeaux can stay on the field and return to his dominant form, then Oregon’s defense is going to be able to lead the Ducks to victory, and the offense won’t have much to worry about.
