Kazakhstan refuses to recognize results of Russian sham referendums in Ukraine
RFE/RL quoted the Kazakh government’s official position, as given by representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Aibek Smadiyarov.

“As for the referendums on joining the Russian Federation being held in self-declared states of ‘LPR’ and ‘DPR,’ and military administrations of Zaporizhzhya and Kherson oblasts, Kazakhstan adheres to the principle of territorial integrity of the states, their sovereign equality and peaceful coexistence,” Smadiyarov said.
He reiterated that President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had repeatedly stated the importance of constant observance of the international law principles.

According to U.S. television news channel CNN, Smadiyarov also reaffirmed the government’s readiness to provide assistance to the promotion of political dialogue, adding that “Kazakhstan believes that maintaining stability at the regional and global levels is of paramount importance.”
Russia started holding sham referendums in the occupied parts of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson oblasts on Sept. 23 to create an allegedly legal pretext for their annexation. The fake voting is supposed to last until Sept. 28.
Ukraine and the vast majority of Western countries have declared that the results of pseudo-referendums will not be recognized. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also noted that the holding of a “vote” and the proclaimed annexation of Ukrainian territories would not affect the process of their liberation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
