After 16 years of work with KCCI, meteorologist Metinka Slater will no longer be appearing regularly on the television screens of central Iowans.

In a March 25 Facebook post — the weekend of her 16th anniversary of working for the central Iowa news station — Slater noted that she would be ending her time with KCCI on Wednesday.

"I’m thrilled to tell you that I have decided to accept a position outside of broadcasting that allows me to continue to work with the community and enjoy a more normal sleep schedule!" Slater wrote in the post. "I will treasure the memories and friendships I’ve made throughout my career at KCCI and hosting Holiday Vacation tours. Thank you for everything and I wish you all the happiness!"
